Who administers and enforces the RRP Rule in Ohio?
The RRP Rule is administered and enforced by the EPA Region V Office in Chicago. The Lead Regional Coordinator for Region V can be reached at (312) 886-7836. In addition, any trainer who wants to offer the EPA RRP training in Ohio needs to be approved by both EPA and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). What is the penalty for violating the RRP Rule?
In states like Ohio, where the EPA regional office is charged with enforcement, penalties can go up to $37,500 per violation, per day. How can contractors find out if a renovation firm is certified?
The EPA web site maintains a data base of certified renovators that enables the user to request a list of certified renovators by address, name of firm, city or state or certification number. Note that certified renovators have the option not to be listed in the database.
How can contractors report a firm that is violating the RRP Rule?
